Team Blingstar Fights the Elements at WORCS Round 4 in Hurricane, Utah and Gets a Top 10 Finish

Hurricane, UT (4/25/2013)

The Blingstar, Polaris backed UTV Team took on the brutal thirteen mile track, located at the Sand Hollow OHV Riding Park. The race was unique from other WORCS events as it featured an extra-long track and had all the SxSs race at once. Nick Nelson raced his Blingstar/Polaris RZR XP 900 to a top ten finish in the Pro Production SxS Class.

Nick Nelson started on the front row and quickly got into a tight battle with another pro racer. Nelson kept the battle going for the entire first lap and came through scoring in seventh, just four seconds off the pace of sixth position. Nelson pushed hard until the third mile of the second lap. He had suspension issues and was forced to back down his pace to keep his RZR together.

“The RZR was working really well. I enjoyed the two lap format; I am really into desert racing and this was a bit similar to that. I am looking forward to getting my shocks worked out and putting in a good run at Taft,” regarded Nelson.

ImageClint Roberts put his #21 Polaris RZR XP 900 through the paces and gained valuable points in the Pro Production Class. He also started on the front line, but got off to a rear pack start. After the first turn, Roberts was sitting in 11th position and he instantly started to charge his way over the brutal, whooped out terrain and fought his way up to eighth position, right behind his team mate Nick Nelson, at the end of lap one. As Roberts pushed over the rough landscape, he unfortunately got two flat tires; however, this didn’t hinder him as he was running the new DWT Run Flat Tires.

“The DWT Run Flat Tires worked awesome; if I wouldn’t have had them, I never would have made it as far as I did. They worked great and did exactly as they are supposed to,” said Roberts of his DWT tires.

ImageOn lap two, Roberts ran into trouble when he charged through a rock section and broke a rear axle. The carnage forced him to miss the last few miles of the race. He finished in fourteenth position but managed to gain two positions in the point standings and now sits 7th in overall points.
“My Polaris was working great. My Blingstar doors, harnesses, front bumper and roll cage all worked great and kept me safe,” said Roberts.

As the WORCS reaches the midway point of the season the Blingstar Team is planning to come on stronger at each round. Nelson is currently ranked in fourth place and Roberts is in seventh in the Pro Point’s Standings. The pair will return in just a few short weeks at WORCS round five in Taft, California. The round is set at Honolulu Hills May 10th – 12th.
